Subject:  Mardi Gras at the Mansion

My husband and I attended the Mardi Gras party in February.  We had a really great time.  The food was wonderful and the decorations were festive and lively.  The band played all evening and it was the first time in years that we could go out on a "date" that was fun and original.  Congrats to Nancy and the board for a great celebration.  I have never been to an event at Poplar Hill Mansion that I haven't enjoyed.  Thanks a lot!

Subject:  Oldest documented home in Salisbury

If there is any documentation that there is an older home in Salisbury, we would be very interested.  Please advise.  I believe the home you are referring to Steven, might have been a home that was used by the family while building Poplar Hill.

Subject:  Join our active Board. Volunteer!

Hello there.

It seems we have a vacancy on our Board of Directors.  We hope you are interested.  We are also looking for new Friends and volunteers.

Our current Board membership is comprised of a diverse group of interesting and interested individuals offering a wide range of skillsets.  So whether you are interested in American architectural, 1800 and 1900 century furnishings, local history, education, or have practical skills in business, computers, building, gardening, arts, or just love planning and hosting events, you will fit right in with the rest of us.  Please join us and make a difference.

The Friends have many exciting and progressive projects underway, each project needs a dedicated Board member and/or volunteer to help work them through to completion.  What makes this Board different, is that it is both a working board and a governing board.  Members are expected to give of their time, skills, and resources in a generous way according to their circumstances.

Interested applicants, or volunteers, are welcome to contact me for more information on the Board and member responsibilities.   If you do not know us, I would be happy to arrange a tour of our facility and have you meet our Curator and other Board members involved in areas of your interest.  If you do know us, and perhaps are a Friend already, please consider serving on the Board.

Please do not hesitate to contact me, and you can do so right here through this Blog or call me at 443.260.2651.

Speaking for the Board, we are all looking forward to meeting with you.

Thank you, Carol

I have been to the Mansion on numerous occassions and have enjoyed the transformation over the last 2 years.  Beautiful home.  Wonderful historic tours.  I brought my whole family.

Subject:  Welcome to Poplar Hill Mansion's New Website

Welcome Friends and supportors to the Poplar Hill Mansion's new Website.

Our Board of Directors took the opportunity to move from a contractor managed website to a self-managed website sponsored by Charity Advantage.  This move not only saves money, but allows our Curator, Nancy Marasco, to publish information about the Mansion's events in more depth and in a  more timely manner.

We appreciate your patience in using this website while it is under construction, and would very much appreciate your comments and suggestions.  And if you are a website manager,  we would love for you to volunteer some in-kind services to help us with it.  An in-kind service made to a non-profit will receive a tax credit.  If you donate your professional time, we will provide you a letter recognizing the value of your time as a gift.

Please feel free to communicate with us and others through this blog site.  We look forward to your interest.

Carol Smith, Chairman, Friends of Poplar Hill Mansion, Inc.
